The main door/entrance should always be in the North, North-East, East, or West, as these directions are considered auspicious. Avoid having the main door in the South, South-West, North-West (North side), or South-East (East side) directions
East and North-East are the best directions to have the entrance, this is said to bring good luck and positivity. The main door to your apartment should be in the North-East direction of the North or East facing wall.
In general, main door in the North or the East is auspicious. But, there may be a condition when you will be forced to have main gate in other direction. In such case, you can have main gate in the following directions:
- East: North-East part of the wall.
- West: North-West half of West wall.
- North: North-East part of North wall.
- South: South-East part of the wall.
NOTE: House having main door in South direction, they must have another door in North direction.
A per vastu, there should be two main doors to your house. One should be used as the exit door and other should be used for entry. If you can’t have two separate doors, it is advised to keep the main door with two shutters or two halves and the rear door with one shutter or half.
Colour of the Main Gate
Always use soft colours for the front gate (main entrance) such as white, silver or wood colours. Do not use (avoid) black, red and dark blue colours.
The main door should be created of wooden material. Avoid materials such as granite, plastic or marble for the main gate.
One must place the footprints of goddess Lakshmi (wall-mount of goddess Lakshmi) on both sides of the main gate.
