How To Count Number Of Doors As Per Vastu

Vastu experts say that the number of doors and windows at home should always be even and in multiples of two, like two, four, six and so on. Which means a house must have an even number of windows and doors at all times, such as 2, 4, 6, 8 etc. but not 10 or multiples of 8 (count doors and windows separately).

The main entrance should not have more than two doors and it should always open inwards. The doors should be built on the East, North or North-East direction wall.

Note that even a sliding door is considered as door as per vastu and even the bathroom doors are counted in vastu. As per Vastu, it is best to have the number of doors in a house in the multiple of 8s, like 8 or 16. Avoid 10 doors in a house. Avoid having main gate entrance in the South direction and the doors (anywhere in the house) should not be in the center of the wall.

Remedy For Odd Number Of Doors In A House

You can achieve the ideal number (odd number except 10) by blocking a door or two with an almirah or false screen. Best is to close the door permanently. Another useful remedy is to put a copper strip across the lintel of the door.

Remedy For Odd Number Of Windows In A House

The window can closed using false screen or a large picture of Lord Ganesha or Lord Hanuman (if the direction is suitable). Else it should be closed immediately.
