Vastu tips for planting trees

According to Vastu, one must always have the garden in North and/or East direction. These two directions are considered auspicious for garden in the home as these directions instills positive energy in the home. It must be noted that the garden should never be kept in a South or West direction as per Vastu.

One should follow these general vastu tips for planting trees in the garden:

  1. Try to locate the garden towards North or East.
  2. Tulsi plant should always be in North direction.
  3. Smaller plants and shrubs should be planted except cacti.
  4. One can plant rose as these are considered good in Vastu.
  5. A water fountain should be installed to attract wealth. Make sure that the water flows/direction of water should be towards the home.
  6. You can have an open sitting area in North direction. It is advised to have this direction free/open.
  7. Try to plant red and yellow flowers in North direction.
  8. Chameli or Jasmine can be planted on either side of pathway. Jasmine is auspicious as per Vastu.

As there are various directions and each of these directions have their own importance and impact in Vastu, here are the direction-wise vastu rules for garden at home:

  1. East: Garden in East direction. Basil or Tulsi can be planted in East. Small floral plants and fruit bearing trees like pomegranate/custard apple/guava and lemons are good in East. Water fountain and swing can be installed in East. Don’t install rock garden and never have big trees in East.
  2. West: Big trees such as mango can be planted in West. It is the second best direction for a water fountain and heavy statues and rock garden. Don’t have swings or pets place in West.
  3. North-East: North-East is best for swimming pool and water fountain. Never have huge trees and thorny plants in North-East.
  4. North-West: It is the best direction for play area/open area. Water fountain and pet’s place can be installed here.
  5. South-East: South-East is the best direction for rose plants and plants with red flowers.
  6. South-West: South-West is good for tall trees, jasmine, rose, marigolds and rock garden.

Note that the central space of the garden must be open and clean. There should be no swimming pool, no plants, no water fountain and no rock garden.
