Goddess Lakshmi Should Face Which Direction? Where to Place Laxmi Charan Paduka
Goddess Lakshmi should face which direction and which Lakshmi photo is good for home. If you want to place Laxmi feet on main door, know how to place Laxmi paduka and where to place Laxmi charan paduka at home.
Goddess Lakshmi Should Face Which Direction
According to Vastu, the mandir or pooja room should be in the North-East direction and the image or murti of Mata Lakshmi should be in the North direction. The face of image or murti of Mata Lakshmi should be placed in such a way that whenever you worship them, your face is towards the North.
In general, the best place for pooja is the north-east corner of the house. The pooja room or mandir should face in the east-west direction in the north-east corner so that the person worshipping should always face either east or west, which is very auspicious. Make sure that you should never face towards South direction while worshipping.
Which Lakshmi Photo is Good for Home
There are eight forms of Maa Lakshmi, known as Ashta-Lakshmi. But, not all are advised to worship in home and office or shop. You will see that there are three most popular forms of Maa Lakshmi, three types of photographs or idols of Goddess Lakshmi.
- Mata Lakshmi standing on a lotus
- Mata Lakshmi half seated on a lotus as if she is ready to stand up. In this image one feet of Mata Lakshmi is pressed on a lotus leaf and the other leg is pressed under the first leg.
- Firmly sitted on lotus. Both feet of Mata Lakshmi is hidden of closed in sitting posture upon the lotus.
As per Vastu, it is believed that a picture of Mata Lakshmi sitting firmly on lotus (3rd kind of image as explained above) is auspicious in the house. Apart from this, it is considered auspicious to have an elephant or a pair of elephants with Lakshmi (this avatar is known as Gaj Lakshmi). One can also keep an image of Mata Lakshmi with Lord Vishnu. It is considered fruitful for the house.
Note that any picture or idol of Mata Lakshmi where she is standing, should not be installed in the house. Standing Lakshmi is known as Chanchala, the whimsical one who is considered eternally restless. It is said that keeping such image of Mata Lakshmi is not good as she will get tired and run away.
Also remember that any image or statue of Mata Lakshmi in which her vehicle (an owl) is visible, should not be installed in the house (there are mixed feelings and recommendations for keeping such an image).
Always remember that a stone or metal idol of Mata Lakshmi should be kept in the house. Never keep an idol made of plastic or plaster of Paris. Also, a fragmented statue of Mother or an idol in which her face is not visible clearly should not be kept in the house.
Goddess Lakshmi Standing or Sitting
There is a wide belief that Goddess Lakshmi in a standing posture is considered to be especially auspicious for merchants, bankers, shops, moneylenders and dealers. Whereas Maa Lakshmi in a sitting posture is considered to be auspicious for a home or an office.
