Number Of Steps In Staircase As Per Vastu

The stairs must always be an odd number. It must never end with a zero number.

According to vastu, stairs should have an odd number of steps – 9, 11, 15 and 21 are considered the most auspicious for the home or office.

Direction Of Staircase As Per Vastu

According to vastu shastra, staircases must be built in the South (Dakshin) or West (Paschim) direction of the house. Both these directions are lucky (as per vastu) and brings good fortune and prosperity.

Also, note that the stairs should begin from the North (Uttar) towards the South (Dakshin) or East (Purva) towards the West (Paschim).

For an external staircase, it can be built in the South-East direction (facing the East), in the South-West direction (facing the West), in North-West direction (facing the North), and South-West direction (facing the South).
