As per Vastu, the overhead tank should be built in the West or the South-West direction. The second best option is the South direction. Make sure that there is a good distance (more than one feet) between the tank and the roof. It is also recommended to use color suggested in the Vastu depending on the direction of an overhead tank (see below for the colour suggestion as per vastu).

Make sure that there is no cracks or leakages in the water tank. Especially when the watertank is in the South-West direction there should be no leakage at any cost.

In general rule, if the watertank is in North East, then use any light shade of brown or green colour. Off-white or cream colour are the neutral colour as per Vastu. Other rules to follow are:
