Ishanya or North-East is the most appropriate direction for puja ghar. It is said that North-East direction is governed by God itself and is an excellent location for pooja room.

Although North-East is an excellent location for pooja room, in various big plots, factories, the pooja room can also be in Brahmasthan (central portion) of the plot/house.

Note that pooja room should always be on ground floor.

Can we place God facing West?

According to Vastu, God should be placed in either East or North-East direction. The face of God must be towards West and the face of worshipper (people doing puja) should be towards East direction.
